Sports – Rowing and Canoeing

Do not forget that for many sport is business, training and training is aimed not so much at developing your abilities as at personal income, so if you are an athlete, not a coach, think with your head, train, recover, take care of your health, correctly eat, do not listen to any left advice and …

Sport – Rowing and canoeing was originally included in the Olympic Games as the only men’s sport. This happened for the first time at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. However, the sport of rowing and canoeing was not long considered a masculine sport and in 1948, women were rightfully added to the Olympic competitions. In the future, in rowing and canoeing, everything went very well for the national team of the Soviet Union. Athletes each time brought a huge amount of medals. Regarding statistics, at the time of the Soviet Union rowing and its branches brought the largest number of gold medals for the country. From this it should be noted that rowing was one of the main sports in our large country. However, with the arrival of Russia, sport rowing and canoeing has always shown decent results.

We briefly describe some of the features of our sport: And so paddling – this athlete sits in a closed boat (kayak) with his feet forward and actively uses a two paddle paddle, while paddling necessarily pass from the right and left sides. Canoeing is the same sport as canoeing, only here the athlete is on one knee in an open boat and paddling only on one side. In rowing canoeing, men and women train and compete in competitions, and men only in canoeing.
There are differences in the classes of ships, for example, in a kayak – this is K1 – single kayak, K2 – kayak deuce and K4 – kayak four. A canoe has it all the same, only the symbols in the classes follow the letter “C”. Regarding the Olympic Games, in our sport there are only two distances, 500 and 1000 meters. At the World and European Championships distances of 200 meters and even relays are added. Racing takes place on smooth water, and the boats must adhere to each of their tracks, at least keep a distance of 5 meters from the nearest boat. The system of selection to the finals in rowing and canoeing competitions is very difficult, athletes have to start 2-3 times a day. This was done to ensure that only the strongest rowers reached the final.
Sports elite, namely athletes, athletes usually train 2-3 times every day, 6 days a week. Training includes two to three sessions on the water, as well as training in the gym with a barbell and exercise equipment or running. In Germany and Hungary, workouts include work with their own weight, pull-ups and push-ups, various exercises with added weight, as well as swimming and aerobic workouts on a bicycle and in winter on skis. Such a sport as rowing requires a large amount of physical and volitional investment from itself, since development must be diversified and every athlete must be patient and hardworking. Also, many professional athletes, together with coaches write and prepare sports training plans, so that training in rowing or canoeing is deliberate.

Rowing and canoeing requires substantial upper body strength, with the engine of each stroke made by the hands and turning the body. Usually, athletes are heavily muscled in the shoulders, the back muscles and the abdominal area are well developed. In order to achieve such a physique, athletes undertake substantial training programs with good exercise. Use various weighting compounds in the water on the boat, or tie objects overboard of the boat that create resistance, in Russian this is called a “brake”. The coach must control the athlete when performing exercises with weights, because such exercises should be in moderate quantities and if the athlete begins to not cope with the weights, you need to remove a certain number of kilograms or hang a smaller brake. In some countries, there are training sessions in which as the training progresses, the weights and weights are taken away, creating a feeling of flight from the person being trained. These programs are designed to develop strength, and explosive power, specific to this sport. Training and training with resistance for beginner athletes often focus on muscle hypertrophy, working with very fine weights, so an athlete can increase lean body mass. From time to time it can be difficult for the trainees to increase their lean body mass or even maintain muscle mass during periods of intense training.
