So what is karting?
The parents of karting are American pilots who, in order to brighten up the time between flights during the Second World War, attached motorcycle engines to luggage carts and rode them through the airfield in their spare time. These were the first kart competitions! And in the summer of 1956, the mechanic of racing cars Art Ingles and an employee of an oil company in California, Louis Borelli, built the first “professional” maps. In 1962, the International Karting Federation was founded, and in 1964 the first world championship in this sport was held in Rome.
Since the fifties to the present day, various experiments have been undertaken in the construction of go-karts. The designers did not go around their attention and power plants. Maps were produced with engines that run on diesel, steam, gasoline, and even jet propulsion. Two-stroke and four-stroke gasoline engines with different power and volume, depending on the class, are traditionally installed on sports cards. The maximum recorded speed achieved using karting is 407 km / h.
Soviet pioneers.
In the 60s kart reached our country. For the first time he appeared here in Kursk and Kharkov. In December 1960, the Automobile Sports Federation approved the Competition Rules and technical requirements for the maps. The first competitions were held in Latvia in the city of Riga. Then they competed on cycle tracks, which was far from safe, and therefore, starting from the third USSR championship, the races were held only on the ring road. Our compatriots entered the international arena in 1964, and in 1967 the first victories were won. In general, the history of this sport currently has volumes in which each page is interesting and unique in its own way.
