Training diary or training diary

Some athletes who train on the water or in the gym periodically record something in a training diary. These, of course, are not poetic sketches or sudden, brilliant ideas from the field of science. Just the habit of many athletes, athletes included keeping a training diary.

The fixation of the results helps in obtaining practical results, analysis and development of an optimal training system.

What is written in pen …

Many online services, computer programs and applications for mobile phones have been created. Many consider the electronic recording system convenient: it is easier to share your recordings with others, it is easier to calculate cycles for many months by setting the training conditions for the utility. No need to carry a notebook and pen: a phone or computer is always at hand. In addition, if you wish, you can build a visual graph of the growth of mass and strength.

On the other hand, writing to a notebook is faster and more familiar, and one should not be afraid that the gadget will freeze at the most inopportune moment, and the results will be mercilessly deleted by the virus. After each approach, it is a dubious pleasure to pick up a brilliant phone and leave fingerprints on the screen. And in general … it is more useful to independently analyze the records and calculate the progress using only a calculator and brains. Being in the gym, you can without fear of leaving your notebook and go to work on your abdominals (for example).

And what is actually written?

The simplest version of the recording begins with a “cap” (day, month, week number, day of the week) and indicates:
the name of the exercise;
what is the approach;
working weight;
the number of repetitions performed in the approach.
Athletes who are more scrupulous about keeping records add additional information to them:
body weight at the time of training;
time spent in the hall;
monthly results of measurements of the basic parameters of the body.

And finally, the most accurate and observant athletes fix this:

were there strength and energy for training, well-being, pulse, pressure;
notes of warm-up and hitch;
evaluation of training on a five-point scale;
injuries, additional training (for example, running);
descriptions of techniques for performing exercises, comments.

Why write something down at all?

From the entries in the diary, you can trace the dynamics and see the growth of weights, if you work out in the gym. If the training diary is conducted by a rower – a kayaker or a canoeist, you can record not only completed workouts on the water, but also calculate the distance traveled, the volumes are very important in rowing. Comparing the figures two months ago and those that were made the day before yesterday, the athlete sees his achievements. Naturally, there is a desire to achieve more. One of the functions of the diary is based on this:

the diary is motivating.

It is proved that progress is possible if we try to exceed the result of the previous one at each subsequent workout. Coming to the gym, you need to remember what weights were taken last time. Or, having passed the test for 2000, 1000, 500 or 200 meters, compare your results with the previous ones. Remember or read the records, which means
